Lent Term...Back in Cambridge

Well, I'm back.

Break was absolutely lovely! NJ was cold, cold, cold. I baked cookies and tried to make up for all the sleep lost during exam week. Arriving in Costa Rica was just like a sequence from a movie. I saw Chris, smiled, and all the taxi drivers turned to stare as he scooped me up and spun me around. Rest of the month was also very movie-like.

Focus groups turned out to be impossible for fieldwork, but persevered and did 25 interviews with Nicaraguan women. Had lots of fun talking and meeting and hanging out with them, trading stories about travel and living in other countries. Was told by my favorite contact in La Carpio that I can now have 3 nationalities - I am now gringa-tica-nica!

Now, back at Cambridge, I have decided this term should be mental health term - have brought back loads of DVDs and set up weekly LOST screening with Megan & Leo. Have already made new friend, Harry, who turns out to have been living in the house next door the whole time (though nearly invisible because is writing PhD dissertation). Am trying not to panic about workload, etc and think positive thoughts about the fact that at least there are no exams this term.

OK, time for another cup of coffee and perhaps a shower.
